Parabola Drums Sound Pack

Parabola Drums is a new pack of exquisitely captured acoustic drums, free for all Sensory Percussion V2 users!

The pack includes faithful, straight-ahead, “one-to-one” mappings of the drums, as well as far-out, wildly imaginative sets.

The thirteen sets are built from detailed recordings of the following instruments:

  • Two snare drums
  • Two ride cymbals
  • Hi-Hat
  • Kick
  • Rack Tom
  • Floor Tom

The Recording Process

Tlacael Esparza, inventor of Sensory Percussion and drummer for the band Darkside, took time during a Darkside recording session at La Fabrique Recording Studio to sample the drums he used during the session.

The drums have a crisp, tight, dry flavor and feel great to both slam a backbeat on, as well as groove intricate ghost notes.

The Sets

The thirteen sets are built using techniques possible only with Sensory Percussion V2. Here’s a description of a few of the sets in the pack:

parabolaOne is the flagship, straight-up, one-to-one acoustic mapping of the original kit. But, even parabolaOne has a fun twist: you can turn on “augmentedFX” for some magical realism!

negative slope, built by Mason Self, uses multiple sends with modulating delays windowed to create a steady impression of falling. If you're feeling negative, dig in a little bit to increase the send level, enjoy the effect, and maybe find yourself feeling a little more positive.

Wabi-sabi turns FX on and off in a groovy pattern - it sounds like an industrial electronic kit, but it’s all acoustic under the hood.

Parbola Gigantus is a “gigantus” style set, which is a new, gigantic Sensory Percussion 2 kit building technique, in which multiple drumsets are layered on top of each other, and separated by slapback delays. The pitches of each drumset can be shuffled with an assignment. In the case of Parabola Gigantus, every hit on Tom 1 (which controls a hi-hat mapping) shuffles the pitch.
